The outdoor recreation junior guide will report directly to the General Manager and work alongside the Senior Guides and Reservations Coordinator to ensure the best possible customer experience.

Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience.
Contract period: June to August, 2024 (flexible).
Mandatory workshop training before starting work.
Work schedule: Part time hours are offered in June and full time hours are offered during the busier months in July and August.

With the company’s busy pace and growth, our Outdoor Recreation Junior Guide has the opportunity to guide a variety of trips and receive ongoing training in a fun and rewarding work environment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic guide with a big smile who always wants to put clients first and deliver engaging, memorable experiences.
Main duties, responsibilities and key attributes
- First and foremost, uphold our tour mission; “Create great memories for our guests”
- Ensure trips are run in a safe and timely manner
- Organise and assemble equipment required for each trip ie. mountain bikes, kayaks, canoes, standup paddle-boards, helmets and other gear as needed to guests
- Assist senior guides where necessary
- Guide commercial tour groups on Class I an II whitewater rivers
- Enforce safety rules and regulations on and off the river
- Provide a high level of service to clients on and off the river
- Provide equipment maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organised work space at the Outdoor Norway base and storage room
- Be reliable, self-motivated, enthusiastic with good communication skills and the ability to talk with people from different cultures and backgrounds;
- Have a strong interest in learning and educating clients about the local culture and history
- Be physically fit and happy to be outdoors all day in all weather conditions
Qualifications required:
- High School diploma in outdoor recreation or equivalent
- Current first-aid certification including CPR (minimum 16 hours course)
- Full clean drivers license with the ability to drive passengers and with a trailer
- Must have excellent spoken and written English skills
Preference will be given to candidates with the following
- At least one year of experience working in the outdoor and adventure tourism industries
- Experience in a range of outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, kayaking and SUP boarding
- Whitewater Rescue Certification
- Basic Norwegian language as well as any other additional language skills
