Mountain Bike Instructor & Coach
As a mountain bike instructor at Outdoor Norway
You will be taking clients of differing abilities on a variety of terrain. You are expected to be an experienced rider, confident in all areas of riding, comfortable on steep, technical terrain and have basic bike maintenance skills. You must be flexible and adaptable to suit individual needs and abilities and be physically fit and able to ride for 5 hours a day.
Candidates must have excellent leadership and group management skills and be capable of planning, organising and delivering mountain bike tours including the logistical side of the trip. Our mountain bike trips run regardless of the weather so you must be prepared to ride under rain or shine. We are looking for mountain bike instructors with continued enthusiasm and dedication.

Main duties and responsibilities
- First and foremost, uphold our mission: “We create great memories for our guests”
- Ensure the trip is run in a safe and in timely manner
- Be responsible and capable of maintaining the bikes, keeping them in good working order
- Properly keep bike maintenance logs
- Have the ability to effectively troubleshoot and fix problems that arise with guest bikes out on the trail
- Engage with guests and be attentive to their needs
- Provide some basic mountain bike instruction working on skills and technique
- Be able to understand and read weather reports, monitor weather conditions and act accordingly
- Must be able to lift, load and unload bikes from a trailer regularly throughout the day

- Have the ability to manage risk and keep people safe when challenging clients to get a little out of their comfort zone and push their limits
- You will need to be concise and able to communicate effectively
- You must be reliable, self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Physically fit and enjoy being outdoors all day in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work alone and as part of team when task required
- You need to love what you do
Qualifications required:
- Mountain Bike Guide Qualification (e.g PMBIA, MBLA, Level 1 etc)
- Current first-aid certification including CPR (minimum 16 hours course)
- Full clean drivers license with the ability to drive passengers and with a trailer
- Must have excellent spoken and written English skills
Preference will be given to candidates with the following
-
Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder
-
With great bike mechanic skills
-
A degree or equivalent in Outdoor Recreation
-
At least three years experience working in the outdoors and adventure tourism industries

Have experience guiding/leading other outdoor activities such as sea kayaking, hiking, SUP and river guiding (kayaking, rafting)

Basic Norwegian language as well as any other additional language skills
